It fixes one of the most glaring issues in Skyrim's rendering pipeline, which is the tone mapper, it applies some sharpening, and makes nights realistically dark. That being said i feel like the current settings are good enough for the Vive so I'm releasing it as is.
A new HMD will likely require slightly different settings than the Vive to get the contrast and light levels dialed in perfectly. I recently sold my Vive and won't be able to properly adjust the settings until i get a new HMD.
